Atag Q Solar with Viessmann Solar tubes. Richmond, London
:-This is an installation done by Geosolar in February 2008 and
the first Atag Q solar installed in the UK! picture1
and picture
2. The client has 3 story town house which is predominantly
radiator heated. The conservatory is heated via a new underfloor
circuit. The client opted for the Q solar because it is the only
solution on the market which has 3 coils so that any solar heated
water can be used to pre heat return water from the radiators/or
underfloor. This works best at the spring/autumn times of the
year when there is good solar input and yet there is still a need
for space heating. The client reported the that 380litre tank
was being heated up to 40celcius by the solar panels during March
2008!
Viessmann Solar. Cambridge :- This is a twin coil
cylinder with a Viessmann
Vitosolic controller/pump station. You can just see the large
expansion vessel to the right of the picture. Flexible solar pipes
are used to connect everything up. Here is the filling
loop & air vent.
Atag E Premier combination boiler/ Velux Solar system.
Cambridge:- This is a traditional Atag
Premier combination boiler. The interesting part of this installation
is a twin
coil cylinder and a Velux flat plate solar
panel on the roof. The cylinder works as a pre-heat supply
to the combi boiler or can be fed directly to the hot water system.
Atag Q 25 Boiler. Hammersmith, London:- As you
can see, the old
boiler was located near the floor. Since the new boiler had
to go in this location some work was required to make everything
fit! This is the Q
boiler. A high
level flue was required to avoid flooding the narrow courtyard
with flue gases. A megaflo
cylinder was also installed to give a good hot water flowrate.
Viessmann Vitodens 100 boiler. Cambridge:- This
boiler
was required due to the extemely tight vertical limits imposed
by this old airing cupboard. A small unvented cylinder was used
to give a slightly higher flowrate than a combi boiler. The cylinder
is 90 litres in capacity and takes around 15 minutes to reheat
from cold.
Atag Q 25 Boiler. Farnham, Surrey:- This was a
boiler
relocation so required an additional two days to run pipework
to the new location in the garage. All pipework was lagged after
the picture was taken! The unusual location of the flue required
a plume
management kit to take the gases above the gutter level.
Atag Q 25 Boiler. Woking, Surrey:- This was a major
system upgrade. This is the Q
boiler adjacent to a Santon 250 litre solar
cylinder. This photo
shows the M.A.D Q controller installed in the boiler. This
allows the boiler to directly control more than two heating zones
in a building.
Atag E22 Boiler. Milton, Cambridge:- This is a
basic heat only E
series boiler. A plume
management kit finishes off the job.
Atag E-SHR35T Premier boiler. Cambridge:-
This is another example of the 35kw Premier
boiler. The customer was made aware of the limitations of
combi boilers, but they decided for this solution due to lack
of space for a cylinder. The hot water flow rate is around 12litres/minute
at the shower which does indeed reduce in flow when the other
hot taps are turned on. However, the clients are quite happy with
the boiler and operation. This is the
flue which terminates near the pitch of the roof.
Atag S-HR24 Blauwe Engel "Blue Angel"
LPG boiler. Near Cambridge:- The customer had electric
storage heaters which were extremely difficult to control. Oil
was not really a consideration due to the necessary size of tank
or risk of oil leakage. A
four pack of 47kg LPG cylinders was used instead. I specified
the Atag
boiler since with weather compensation, running costs will
be equivalent or better than most oil fired boilers. A small under-countertop
unvented cylinder with very high recovery coil was used as
a preference over a combi boiler. The flue would have been a serious
problem with a standard boiler. The Atag boiler has flexible flueing
options which provided this
solution. See also this closeup
picture.
Two Atag S-HR24 Blauwe Engel "Blue Angel"
LPG boilers. Near Cambridge:- The customer had an oil
boiler which was proving to be unreliable and extremely difficult
to operate. Also the oil tank was showing signs of leakage which
could lead to a big
fine for the client. There is a main building with underfloor
heating, a second annex building and a megaflow cylinder. I recommended
and installed a two
boiler setup. One boiler takes care of the main building which
has a set flow temperature of 50 degrees c. The second boiler
heats the annex building and the megaflow
cylinder. There is also a hidden underground
lpg tank around 10 metres away from the boiler house. This
is the shell
nautilus tank regulator.
Atag E-SHR24 Premier replacement boiler. Linton,
Cambridgeshire:- The client previously had a balanced
flue Glowworm
boiler. This was checked with a flue gas analyser and found
to be emitting dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. The client
also had very big gas bills of around £60 per month. The
decision was taken to replace the old boiler with an up-to-date
boiler and the Atag Premier
boiler was chosen as the most cost effective solution. The
boiler has a 98% running efficiency and is likely to slash the
monthly gas bill by at least £20. Due to the location of
the boiler, it was decided to use the Atag roof
mounted flue. A powerflush was performed on the new system
and a Fernox boiler
buddy was used. This picture shows the amount of debris caught
by the filter in just a few minutes of operation.
Atag E-SHR24T Premier boiler and complete new central
heating system. Newmarket, Suffolk:- This is the 24kw
premier boiler installed into a 1 bedroom flat. This is the
boiler
without the casing. You can see the build quality and everything
is neatly laid out for ease of servicing. This is a picture
showing the pipework under the boiler. The flue
terminates over the roofline. British Gas wanted to install
the flue into the roof, but I always advise against this as there
is always a potential risk of water leaking through the roof.
Viewed from a distance, the
flue doesn't even stand out against the roofline. The E-SHR24T
is also a solar combi boiler so it will allow the user to add
solar panels to provide a pre-heated water feed in the future. All
new myson roundtop radiators were installed. In the hallway,
lounge,
kitchen, bedroom and a towel
rail in the bathroom.
Atag E-SHR35T Premier boiler. Cambridge:-
This is the 35kw premier boiler. In this example, the customer
already had a 35kw Worcester Bosch boiler which had to be replaced
due to the flue terminating in an unsafe location. This is the
boiler
mounted in a conservatory. This picture
shows a slightly different angle.
Atag S-HR24 Blauwe Engel "Blue Angel"
boiler. Cambridge:- A very high efficiency Atag boiler
to replace an old combi boiler. This boiler is fitted with the
optional 'brain' and weather compensation unit. This boiler has
a very good modulation range ( 3.5kW - 21.2kW) - which is ideal
when running a system with TRV's which will have a small load
when the house is up to temperature. The boiler is integrated
with a megaflo cylinder to provide limitless hot water. boiler

Atag S-HR35 Blauwe Engel "Blue Angel"
boiler. Westminster, London:- This 35kw Atag boiler
replaced an old inefficient combi boiler. The boiler is integrated
with a 250 litre megaflow cylinder. The project was in central
London and the customer decided to go with our quote after Geosolar
demonstrated competence in installing a high quality system. boiler

Atag combi boiler replaces an old open flue combi boiler. The
customer did not have the space for a megaflow cylinder so the
Atag premier boiler was chosen as the next best option. premier

Keston Celsius 25 boiler and 125 litre Megaflow. Luton:-
This advanced system replaced an old wall hung boiler and a vented
cylinder. A mixer shower was run from the cylinder and the customer
complained of poor shower pressure. The new system was installed
during a week and the customer is now an ardent enthusiast of
Megaflow cylinders. boiler

Keston Celsius 25 boiler. Cambridge:- This is a
small 1 bed house with few options for siting a boiler. My suggestion
was to mount a small boiler in an outside broom cupboard and install
the control valves into the airing cupboard. celsius

was so impressed with the installation that he asked me to do
the same job for him. This was the adjoining house and an almost
mirror image of the previous job. celsius

Keston Celsius 25 boiler. Saffron Walden, Essex:-
The customer was adamant he didn't want a combi boiler and the
siting location for a boiler was problematic due the location
in a conservation arear. My solution was to mount the boiler in
the unused hearth and route the flue to the eaves where the pluming
would not be seen. celsius

Keston Celsius 25 boiler. Hardwick, Cambrigeshire:-
A standard boiler replacement using the keston C25 boiler.
The flue was extended vertically by about 1 metre to ensure the
plume of flue gas was shot over the garage rather than directly
onto the roof. flue

Trianco Electric boiler. Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire:-
Some homes in the Cambridge area are not on the gas network. Most
customers go with either oil or LPG boilers. In this case there
was no suitable room to locate the storage tanks without spoiling
the small garden. My solution was to install a conventional wet
central heating system with the latest electric boilers. The customer
is extremely pleased with the system and also has the option to
easily upgrade to a gas boiler should the house be connected to
the gas network in the future. aztec

UNDERFLOOR HEATING
Underfloor System:- An underfloor manifold was added
to an existing central heating system. I also upgraded the controls
to meet Part L building regulations using a S-plan plus system.

GAS FIRES
I only recommend and install flueless gas fires. These appliances
obviate the need for expensive work to replace flue liners and
the associated chimney work.
