A thermal solar system is a great way to gain lots of hot water
throughout the year without requiring any gas or oil to be burnt
and therefore to do your bit for the environment.
Solar systems can vary from basic single panels and small cylinders
to more elaborate and larger systems which can accomodate the
needs of large families. For solar we recommend a tube system
based on Viessmann Vitosol
200 or Vitosol
300. We can also supply other makes of system by request.
Geosolar installs systems which are Solar Ready. All unvented
hot water cylinders are specified as twin coil as standard. This
allows you to easily upgrade to solar at a later date when you
have the funds.
All Atag combi boilers are also Solar Ready. This is because
they can accept pre-heated water from a solar cylinder. This is
an important point to verify when you are choosing your new boiler!
Atag also have a new exciting product called Q solar. This is
a high efficiency Q boiler mounted on a huge 380 litre 3 coil
cylinder. Coupled with an array of vacuum tubes this would provide
copious amounts of hot water for a large family. Uniquely, the
third coil allows hot water to be extracted to heat the radiators/underfloor
system. This is particulary useful towards the end of spring and
beginning of winter when there is still a good amount of solar
energy available and people are either still using or starting
to use the central heating.

2. The client has 3 story town house which is predominantly
radiator heated. The conservatory is heated via a new underfloor
circuit. The client opted for the Q solar because it is the only
solution on the market which has 3 coils so that any solar heated
water can be used to pre heat return water from the radiators/or
underfloor. This works best at the spring/autumn times of the
year when there is good solar input and yet there is still a need
for space heating. The client reported the that 380litre tank
was being heated up to 40celcius by the solar panels during March
2008!
We are solar installers in London, Cambridge, Norwich and most
places in the South East. We have worked as far away as Lancashire,
so ask us - we might travel to you!
Q solar is available from October 2007. Contact Geosolar for
more information.
